LOL, who knew I was supposed to wear lipstick.

I'm in the basement when I sew, I can't hear the door bell.  I lock it as well so no one can walk in.   I'm safe.

Re: If you sew................

[ Edited ]

@JudalineSmiley LOL glad you got it to post! I like a good laugh & snicker with my coffee!

I guess June Cleaver (for all you youngsters that have never watched 50's/60's television or repeats --"Leave it to Beaver") was a 'good' housewife and always 'prepared' to recieve a compliment on her lovely dress via Eddie Haskell.

In the real world I never remember my mother or grandmothers  heeding this advice , yet they made some wonderful garments. When I did sew more I would never have completed anything if I had to follow that advice. I did manage to enjoy though.

and I wonder also ... what is French chalk?? I know tailor's chalk.

Re: If you sew................

Well, I do a much better job of sewing in my PJ's or sweat suit or similiar attire.  Besides, by the time I did all those things that's recommended, I'd be too tired to sew. It is funny though.  Thanks, @Judaline, for posting.

The photo shows up posted on my computer, how weird is that? Anyway, I found another source for it and hope it posts. I love it and I don't sew but my GG did and I have her machine.

I don't go through that much effort to go to church or probably wouldn't, even if invited to the Academy Awards!

lol.  I'm glad it's not 1949 because I'm putting together a quilt and I'm still in my PJs.

Re: If you sew................

@Judaline, I love that!!!

My grandmother was a tailor.  She made mens' suits.  She made all her family's clothes.  My mother often told me her dream was to have a dress from the store!  She raised her family during the depression.  LM

Re: If you sew................

@Lilysmom I have always so admired good tailoring! They are artists. You were lucky. I hope your grandmother got her wish.... Of course she probably would have brought it home and improved it . Smiley Happy

The women in my family were all quite talented home seamstresses and I was glad to continue the tradition until my eyesight weakend. 'Gotta' admit though buying ready made is fun also.

Re: If you sew................

The advice is fascinating  Thanks, @Judaline.

I agree with being mentally prepared, but some of the other suggestions seem to be the complete opposite of advice we'd hear today.

Today, at least in articles I've read, they say you should not procrastinate (by doing household chores or other "stuff") when you really ought to be focusing on what you want to be doing, such as sewing or whatever else it might be.

Re: If you sew................

I think that's cute. And actually, good advice. Anything you do deliberately and purposefully will be more enjoyable and turn out better, IMO.
