I always see those sweepstakes that aren't for big money, but they offer a boost to get started. Usually the grand prize is something like a new kitchen, a whole house makeover, etc. and the small prizes are weekly/monthly giveaways.

Sometimes it's harder to spend a smaller amount than a larger amount.

What would you do around the house with 1K (without going over)?

I would do any of these options, depending on the actual cost.

1) new landscaping (I have a townhome so there isn't much to do, but I could start over)

2) custom MB closet racks

3) wire the MB for an overhead light and light fixture

4) add a railing or small roof above the front porch stoop (so my packages don't get wet!)

5) a Bose radio for the main floor
