Ladies, I've never heard of freezing them, but after my grandson and I go on an acorn hunt, I give them a quick rinse in the sink and then bake them at 250 degrees for about a half hour. After they cool, I spray them with lacquer. They last for season after season. Hopefully any worms or bugs are destroyed in the process!

I've seen things like this (faux acorns, etc) at Pottery Barn. I think they call them "vase fillers."

Those acorns add a pretty touch to the candles. More festive in the Fall.

Oh yes, be careful with real acorns. I love acorns and live around many beautiful and huge old oaks. I decided one year to gather many acorns and use them as a decoration. Imagine my surprise when those awful grubs cam out of them!

I have now collected some very realistic and safe ones to use.

Oh please.....everyone come to my house and collect as many free acorns as you can haul away! My neighbors and I will be smiling! 😄

My friend buys a bag of mixed nuts in the shell at the grocery store and uses those around the base of her flameless candles. Always looks nice; she changes to fake cranberries and small pieces of cedar greenery after thanksgiving.
