Re: IS ANYONE STARTING FALL DECORATING THIS WEEKEND?

[ Edited ]

@Oznell

Those are some really pretty ideas for fall decorating.  I always get good inspiration from your posts.  Thank you 😃❤️

At school, the kids used to create a leaf garland, although it was much more rustic, still cute lol.

I won't be starting with any decor this weekend.  However, I have a nice table arrangement and a fresh picked basket of apples.😃

@Oznell  Lovely pics! I took down my summer things earlier this week, and I brought up my door wreath and a few other things. The mornings have been fall-like here of late, and the leaves are starting to fall due to the drought. So, I'm going with it.

@PA Mom-mom   I'm in PA too ( SE) and I noticed just yesterday many leaves on my front Linden tree have turned yellow and the front lawn has a light carpet of leaves.

It's been cool in the mornings and not much rain lately.

Re: IS ANYONE STARTING FALL DECORATING THIS WEEKEND?

I am getting inspired from all the varied comments on here!  That's what I love about this-- I will go over them again, at leisure, gleaning ideas from what you all have been kind enough to put down.

I'm still mostly "late summer" here.  But I have threaded some faux tan-colored baby's breath ( as opposed to white) into my tall vase of eucalyptus, to give a little warmer color coming in. And have dried bunny tail grasses in my ivory art deco vase.

What got me going on "fall" was getting that brown and white transferware spoon rest and salad plate from Hobby Lobby.  So I've put them on little stands, and they started the whole "whispering fall" movement in my room... but just a whisper so far.

@DSD2 ,   according to the Flower Magazine site, those are wee silver 'frog and snail' salt and pepper cellars from Scully and Scully!  Oh, boy, fall is all about "earthy",  but I'm just a teensy squeamish re snails, ha.

Oooh, how striking, @Marsha2003 !  You always have an eye for drama.  The leaves against your pretty green lamp.  Love your twin hurricanes and pumpkin too.  Sophisticated.

Edited to add--  Didn't see your dining room picture before.  Such a pretty, balanced arrangement too, and with the backdrop of that lovely picture!

I have that same Mark Hampton book on decorating!  He was one of my early influences, and I still pore over his book-- his eye, and his instincts, were golden!

Re: IS ANYONE STARTING FALL DECORATING THIS WEEKEND?

@Oznell Thank you for the kind words.  I like that Mark Hampton book.  I also enjoy the one that is a collection of his original artwork that he gave to friends.  When I downsized last year and sold all of my decorating and design books, I chose to keep those two because I enjoy reading a random selection from them now and again.

Re: IS ANYONE STARTING FALL DECORATING THIS WEEKEND?

@Oznell Love the pictures, but no. I won't do any fall decorating til the calendar says it's fall. It's still hot here in SC!

Can't see my house from the street, so my fall wreath goes at the back door, which is what everybody uses. I have some ceramic pumpkin things that I will set out. some silk leaves in vases, and fall dish towels for the kitchen.

Come October, I add a beautiful ceramic Jack-o-lantern that I've had for years and put a time candle in it. That goes away after Halloween, but the rest of it stays out till it's time to decorate for Christmas.

Re: IS ANYONE STARTING FALL DECORATING THIS WEEKEND?

Me too, @vermint ,  I can't wait to put out my brighter colored leaves and stems, and my few, but tried and true ceramic pumpkins. And I also get oddly excited to put out fall tea towels in kitchen-- finally got some new ones, deep, sagey green with a tone-on-tone swirling leaf motif...

@Marsha2003   Love your green lamp. It reminds me of jadeite!

Your decorations look very nice too.

That is very pretty @Marsha2003!

I love everything and also the ways you arranged it. That red wreath on the lamp so colorful and unusual. I love that!
