I, too, like the $700 one better. But since the other one is free, I agree with those who said you should paint it to match. You might even want to change the hardware to match the wooden knobs on your buffet hutch. By the way, your buffet hutch is beautiful! Let us know what you decide.

I agree with everything Apple Crisp said!

Love the offered piece. I think it would be perfect with the rest of your room. I'd choose to paint/stain it to coordinate with the other pieces in the room, as well. And the $700 unit is nice, but if the price difference for the finished pieces is big, I go with the offered piece.
And as a side note, I have the same rug (Royal Palace) in the same color (and I got some in the cream version as well). I got several of them, well over a decade ago. I took the fringes off of mine (too OCD for those things) and tucked and hemmed the edging. I've used them (and hard) for years. They have been spilled on, puked on (animals), and peed on by an 18 year old and dying cat. They get steam cleaned each year, or more often when needed (which I don't think is recommended by the manufacturer) and they come back looking spanking brand new. I don't think I'll ever be able to wear them out.
I'm getting tired of them, but they still look like new, and I can't get rid of things that last that well! I have moved the green ones to the laundry room, loaned a couple to my mom, and we just keep reinventing ways to use them.
I wonder if their products are still that well made. I'd guess, like everyone else, they are not.

I vote for taking the free one and painting it. You can very easily get the look of the one you really want. Stain the top darker and then paint the bottom white and put on new knobs. I recommend Annie Sloan Chalk paint with clear wax. The shade of white depends on what you already have (hard to tell in the photo.) maybe Old White? All you'd need is a larger can of paint and one can of wax. Less than $100

Thanks everyone for those good ideas!! I think my "crafty/repurpose" part of my brain is turned off lately!!!
I'm definitely going to take it and make it work. I know the top is a marble (black) insert but that won't much matter, as I may tile the top now that I've got the "re"purpose bug!
Thanks again!!!

Do you want your room to be matchy, matchy? I used to decorate that way. I now live in my newly built cottage and not one piece of my furniture matches! I have a cottage look or is it called shabby chic? Who knows? Everyone has their own style of decorating. I know if I posted pics of my place I'm sure I'd get some that despise it. But I love my look and that's all that counts. Do what makes YOU happy.

I agree with everything Citrine2 and Apple Crisp said. Take the free one and paint it.

I'd take that maple piece ,paint it white with chalk paint and change the hardware to a more cottage style.
