I'd be furious too. But that wouldn't help so I'd have to move on like you. But I'm wondering along with stevieb if you could wait until you find what you really love again?

Who knows if they were even telling you the truth about what happened? Maybe they sold it to someone or one of the employees took it home!! That would REALLY tick me off. And please ignore the nasty poster who made it sound like you were a 1%er who shouldn't dare to voice a complaint about getting burned by someone.

On 2/22/2014 happy housewife said: My DH did ask for a refund but they refused saying they had invested a lot of time into trying to polish the scratches out of the marble and they needed to finish this job to be paid the remainder. So DH caved and said we would pick another piece - believe me i would have argued with them and gotten my money back but my DH is a softie for the working guy. and, yes, I doubt there are many places around here doing this kind of work. The marble for this particular project was thicker and the marble they usually get is only 3/8in thick to be used for windowsills. they said they would not have any more like this piece for a long time as it was specially brought in for a custom project. So waiting for another piece like it could be a long time.
no, no, no. Being soft is one thing. If they gave you a price for one item and are now giving you another item that is NOT up to the original item and they won't refund it is time to get a lawyer. They are wrong and it might even be illegal. Time to take action!

I am buying from the scrap pile so all the material is FREE - someone else already paid for it - all we are paying for is the cutting, polishing and installing of the material. read the OP.

Speaking of which, I'm sort of wondering why my comments appear to have disappeared... Jeez, I surely didn't feel I'd said anything forbidden by the powers that be... But will reiterate simply that I'd probably be inclined to wait it out a bit and see if the material I turly wanted again became available...
It annoys me to no end what comments seem to remain and what disappears around here...

I could be wrong, but I'm getting the vibe that they actually ended up selling the piece to somebody else for more money and then they made up the story about scratching and tossing it.

HH has a habit of reporting ANY opposing opinions, don't get annoyed-just expect it.

I just don't like 'holier than thou' hypocrites. Never have, never will. I like and frequent this forum, so I will call them out.
