You have to post a picture when you are done @151949.

I've only ever seen them done in squares, not strips so it will be interesting to see a new take on it.

I don't think I can post pictures with a chromebook.

Is rag quilts the ones that have tiny little peices of yarn tied on the squares? I remember that type from my childhood.

151949, I am not a quilter, but somehow I ended up receiving a notions catalogue. A Roto cutter sounds like such a great idea....it sure would save your poor hands!  I am getting virtual tendonitis in my thumb just thinking about all that cutting!

@Poodlepet2 you can't use the rotary cutter for this type of quilt because you are making fringes on each individual square or strip and only have a very small seam allowance on each piece.

Snipping finally done.I have a semipermanent dent in my finger from the scissors and my bandage shears - the scissors I used - are dull so I have to get them sharpened. It is in the washer now where it should fringe nicely and be ready to ship - baby girl to be born Wednesday.

I just checked out a tuitorial on line, as I have heard of these but forgotten how they're done. Your recipient will be very pleased. I have been itching to sew, so this project looks perfect for the winter months.

IF we lived up north, and I could take all the time I need to do the snipping , this would make a nice cover for a bed. Warm & cozy plus you could just throw it in the washer & dryer. Great for a kid's room.Warmth without weight.

@151949 you have definitely inspired me. As soon as the house is decorated for Christmas and all the gifts wrapped, I'm on my way to JoAnne's Fabrics. We are praying that the adoption goes through for my daughter and son in law and we will have a granddaughter. My first and I'm so excited !! The quilt will be for her.

Mine is for a baby girl too - I used grey and white and pink and, if I do say so myself it is really pretty.
