I love Kirkland Store BUT....

The horrible scents of the sachet packets makes me sneeze, gag and barely breath in the store now of course, with a mask it's worse☹️☹️☹️

I went today as they had all christmas 25% off and I was purchasing a table.  I walked in the store and as much as I wanted to "browse" every part of the store ....I couldn't breath🥵

Asked to see the piece I ordered for pick-up and while waiting a nice wreath caught my eye -- I had to go outside and wait!!

The salesclerk was extremely nice she said "many complain" but corporate won't discontinue selling these sachets🤷‍♀️

I didn't like the table (cheap looking for the price) but I did buy the wreath.

My car smells just like the store from the bag..yuck😳.   I put the wreath outside to "air out".

(Too bad, because they had some really nice things for Christmas.)

@homedecor1 -- I have the same reaction in Kirklands.  The fragrance is SO strong, I can't stand it.  The store near me recently closed (I think because of covid) so I don't shop there any more, but like you, I complained.  I don't know how anyone works there!

Re: I love Kirkland Store BUT....

The Kirklands near me closed over a year ago. They didn’t always sell the sachets...just candles or potpourri, and those weren’t too strong. The sachet packets are probably not very high quality. I avoid anyplace with too much scented stuff...

I can't shop there either, the scent is overpowering. Anything cloth would have to be washed.

Re: I love Kirkland Store BUT....

I used to walk at a nice park with lit water fountains and could smell the Kirklands store as if the door was opened.  It was the closest store to the path.  For that reason, I was never tempted to go in.

BB&B is like that sometimes and the ole Yankee Candle store is gag worthy, too.

I've only been in a Kohl's a few times, but I think that store also has a distinct smell.

I gag when I see those Christmas tree shaped air fresheners hanging from a rear view mirror.  Sometimes when you walk past a car, you can smell the foul air *freshener*.

I agree, it's so overpowering I would think

that the employees go home with their clothes

smelling so strong 😳.

Re: I love Kirkland Store BUT....

Just what I thought...if my car still "reaks" from the bag I can only imagine the UNhealthy work environment these people work in.

I am extremely sensitive to all perfumes, candles, air fresheners or laundry detergent (esp Tide).

I can't go to a very close relatives home anymore because she washes her clothes and then uses those dryer crystals but worse, since pandemic she sprays every square inch of her house with Lysol and it's permeated the furniture!!!  and uses plug ins🤮🤮🤮

The kicker is she's the "cleanest" person I know we probably could eat off her floors🙂

Re: I love Kirkland Store BUT....

i was in a kirklands outlet about two weeks ago. i can usually spend a long time in that store. i usually find a lot of items there for small gifts and holiday decor. this time i walked out with nothing. ours does not seem overly fragrant.....or maybe it just doesnt bother me?

Before it closed my closest Pier One was like that too except the smell was an overwhelming mildewy moldy smell and the closer you got to the back of the store the heavier the stench got.

I also really like Kirkland's but stopped going in there some time ago. The scents give me a sick headache so, it is just not worth it for me.
