@Nonametoday i also have shutters in my bathroom -- not to mention living room and dining room. I had them installed when I moved here over 40 years ago and they still look like new. I often get compliments on my living room/dining room decor.

I am not crazy about the red chairs and the red accents.  I agree replacing the curtains with another option would also be an improvement.

It looks as though they thought the red chairs would add interest to their neutral color palette, but they just look garish in this space.

It just looks cluttered. I would get rid of the red chairs.

I say two couches facing each other and two chairs at both ends also facing each other.

They can remain red!

Ditch the awkward coffee table (?) for something solid that you can set a glass on.

Maybe sheers at the windows?

The apples are just plain stupid.

The end tables look like something you'd find in the 'furniture department' at KMart.

@Q-Checker

I love shutters so much.  I even have them in my bathrooms.

The red chairs are too strong with the soft looking curtains.  I also don't like how the fireplace looks like a huge black box.

The sofa, ottoman, and loveseat or chair can stay. Everything else, including the red, the wall color, and the accessories would have to go.

I think that the red chairs add a kind of unique drama to this room. Different strokes for different folks on this thread, for sure!

the design is okay for a lay out   But for me, too much junk in a small room. Who would put  all those Knick knacks in such a small area.  Colors are ok. The wicker chairs are ok, but make the the room to busy with all the other stuff.  But I imagine it was a designers lay out

I like the fireplace, the books, the apples and the basket.  Rest of it?  Gotta go.
