Congratulations, MominOhio. Your satisfaction is palpable in the telling about the new doors. It's your home, and you should always derive that sense of pleasure from it.
It's good, too, to read about the good service you received from Lowes. We are presently up to our eyebrows in a kitchen upgrade with a local design center, and I hope to someday feel your sense of accomplishment. Right now, though, we're in Angstville, hoping we're making good choices and that we'll be happy whenever it all comes together.

You have to be excited about that new kitchen! I'd be over the moon!
But the choices and decisions for that big of a project are so daunting. And sometimes the more you look/think about it, the more unclear it all becomes.
Our kitchen is original to the house, and was very cheap when done. The folks here before us abused the cabinetry terribly, and it is actually a disgrace to look at them. I want to re do the kitchen, cabinets, counter, sink, lighting, paint and wood floor (no enlargements or new appliances necessary though), but in some ways, glad there is no money for it right now, as I don't know where I'd begin. Over the 20 years here, I've liked several different woods and styles of cabinets alone, so actually having to make final decisions, well, I'd be dumbfounded.
I'm sure when yours is all done, you'll be happy with your decisions. Hope it comes together quickly and without delay.

IamMrsG, I went through renovation of two rooms, and an enlargement and renovation of my kitchen beginning in 2013, and continuing until August 2014, a few weeks short of one year. It was estimated at six months, and I was horrified at that, but once we were in it, nothing to do about it. Lots of problems arose, and since DH was at work every day, it was all on me. He said he would deposit money, and I would do the rest, lol.
I had always had an old kitchen, except for one year at my previous house. A year after we remodeled the kitchen, after waiting for twelve years, we moved here. I lived with this original kitchen, new appliances, paint and floor added when we moved in, for many years, dreaming of a new kitchen one day.
We moved our kitchen downstairs to the rec room, and I cooked there for six months. It was an adventure, and I found that I was able to cook just about everything I would in my kitchen, except for pasta sauces and the like. Used a two burner hot plate, microwave, toaster oven, and grill which we lugged to the front walk which is just outside of the rec room. There was some take out, but I cooked most nights. The walking up and down fourteen stairs throughout the day, mostly in preparation for dinner, kept me fit. I couldn't garden except for the weekends, but am now back at it every day, so that is my exercise now. ![]()
We probably will tackle two bathrooms, and some drywall work in the dining room and living room, and some alterations there, next year. This year, needed work in the garden, rebuilding fences, etc. had to be done, DH working on the latter now, after digging holes for plantings for months earlier. He is happier now, lol.
I hope all goes well with your kitchen renovation.

Congratulations, mominohio! Renovations are very satisfying---when they're finished, lol! We took out the wall between our kitchen and dining room a little over 2 years ago, and then proceeded with a kitchen reno over the next year. It was scary and fun at the same time! I had a good idea of what I wanted (and didn't want) from watching HGTV for several years, so I just had to find things that matched my vision. The only really anxious moment came when the tile backsplash was being installed. It was glass tiles in varying shades of brown, and just didn't look right with the countertop---until it was grouted. The grout color just pulled it all together, whew! Now I smile everytime I walk into that room.
We've lived in our house for 29 years, and have been slowly redoing some things. Next on the agenda is replacing the cabinet/countertop in the master bath (mine), redoing the shower in the guest bath (his), refinishing floors and replacing carpet. It'll all get done eventually!
