Susan Louise may I join your "kooky" club.
My Fall decorating date is next weekend. I've done this the last few years. I too have had Spring/Summer up since mid February and I'm tired of it. Anywho, my fave is Autumn colors and I adore it...It's inside not out so no one sees it but me and who visits. Then the week before Thanksgiving it's all gone and Christmas is out till after Jan 6th.
Can't wait to see your photo's.

Fall does NOT begin in August! In no way, shape or form! That would be the day I'd start decorating my house for Fall in the middle of the Summer! I cherish and love every single day of our precious Summers! There's no way I'm going to rush the seasons. ![]()

I cant wait to see your pic's! I love decorating for Fall. And i dont think its too early for you, cause you are decorating for you/your family! I start right when my kids go back to school, cause i can get a good cleaning in and then start!!(like the first week of Sept) Cant wait!
I think alot of people started their spring stuff early, cause of the horrible winter we had last year. And i think alot of people dont want to fall/winter to start again. But to me, this is my favorite part of the year. Fall! Cause of all the holidays coming up, crisp weather, the beautiful leaves, the humidity is gone! ![]()
I dont enjoy the summer like i used to. Just too humid when it does get warm. Tho, i have to say this summer hasnt been too bad. Just wish when it was warm, it wasnt humid. I cant remember so many humid days when i was younger. Unless i just didnt notice it back then! (that's possible, i guess!)
Enjoy your decorating! And dont forgot to post your pics!! ![]()
ps..i noticed at our Dollar General in town, they started to put out a few Christmas decorations! But once school starts, that is generally when all the stores start putting out Halloween decorations and Christmas isnt too far behind that.

Somehow it seems to me fall decorating should begin about the time school starts - for us, the first day of our school year is August 7th, so it's time to get everything ready.
And doesn't this time of year make you want to go out and buy school supplies? No mater how old I get, I have this yen for a new notebook, packs of loose leaf paper and some fresh pens. I guess some of us never really grow up, even though we grow old.

Everyone does what makes them happy. For me I can't even begin to think of decorating for fall until the end of September. I'm still in a summer frame of mind and like taking a weekly drive to the beach.
I really don't put a lot out now anyway but did more when the kids were little. I don't add Halloween stuff until Oct. 1 and on Nov1. I'll add Thanksgiving decor.
Around here they don't really begin advertising school supplies yet since school doesn't begin until after Labor day.
Eta....This has been one of the nicest summers that I can remember in the northeast! Yes it's been humid though not everyday! It's been mostly in the 70s & 80s...not many 90 degree days and we haven't reached 100 at all!

Can't wait to see your pictures! Can't believe the nerve of some people to complain about when YOU decorate YOUR home, with things that YOU purchased with YOUR own money, and did it on YOUR own schedule!
The older I get, the more I realize just how short life can really be (local teen passed last night after a terrible car accident, always puts things into perspective) and if we enjoy something, and it isn't illegal or immoral or harmful to anyone's health, why shouldn't we do it. If a mercury glass Christmas tree sitting on the end table makes you smile in August (don't know who would do that?????) then do it. If decorating for fall in August is your thing, go for it. If you feel most comfortable only having Christmas decor up for two weeks, then do it! There are no wrong answers, only people who like to knit pick.
There is nothing wrong with us sharing what our decor style preferences are, when we like to change out for the seasons/holidays, what we like and don't like, but it is just childish when someone offers up a nice friendly post, to act like they have lost their mind because we disagree with their choices. A simple statement that it is too soon and too hot (in the opinion of someone responding to a post) to be thinking about a particular decor changes is enough.

I want to put up my pumpkin wreath, think I will next week, lol! I LOVE fall decor! Want to plant some pansies and fall flowers, and say good bye to my impatients. I did see a tiny hummingbird enjoying them this morning, what a treat!
I have an old watering can filled with silk sunflowers..so you aren't alone, I always get this way in August, longing for cooler temps and fall foilage! I can't wait!

Stores are starting to put out Halloween. So by that measure,Susan Louise, you are behind schedule...lol. I think a person can decorate any time for any season, reason,or whim! I am getting out sunflower wreaths, etc to get them ready for hanging. I like to ease in to fall (because I hate cool temps). You decorate on,sister!!!
