Re: I have a question about carpet stretching?

We have carpeting in our master bedroom, living room and dining room. It was only a couple of years old when we had an earthquake.  A few weeks later, our carpets started to buckle.

I got a pretty good price from our local carpet store. I believe it was about $75 per room.

We only had to move the smaller pieces of furniture, such as end tables and side chairs.  The guy had a power stretcher and it straightened out the carpeting, even with the large pieces of furniture in place.  It's been about 3 years and the carpets are still taunt.

Re: I have a question about carpet stretching?

Moved into a house last summer and had the carpet stretched in the master bedroom.  I should of just replaced it but we didn't because really the entire upstairs carpet should be replaced and due to circumstances we just weren't ready to do that.  It's already looking like heck again.  Getting ready to re-do master bathroom.  I think if we can afford it, the carpet will be next.  If your carpet is 20 years old....just replace.,

Re: I have a question about carpet stretching?

My mom had her carpeting stretched in her bedroom a few years ago.  It was buckling terribly.  The carpet was still in good shape.

The guy came in and said she said put new padding down too.  It only took a couple of hours and it looked great.  I want to say he charged her less than $500.  She had a huge master bedroom - the size of a large living room.

She took out the small pieces and he moved the big pieces around.  Her room was big enough to do that.  It would depend on how big your room is though.
