Re: I got my Olive Tree.....

[ Edited ]

Many years ago (30?) we bought a lime tree (really a lime twig) when we were in Florida.

The little twig hung in there and grew. It is now a nice sized bush. I think the size is limited to the planter we have it in.

Last year it produced over 50 nice sized limes. We made 3 lime pies. The pies were the hit of a Thanksgiving dinner.

This year I think we were a little late taking the lime bush outside. And it produced about 10 small limes. We live in Pennsylvania so we bring it inside for the winter.

@GingerHead Hope you are also successful with your olive tree. It looks like quite a tree already. It is a nice size. Glad it shipped so well.

Oh wow @drizzellla, you've had your lime tree for 30 years! How cool is that? It sounds like it produces a lot of limes!

I've seen real trees grown inside before but haven't taken the time to research which ones can survive indoors. I love the look and love trees but unfortunately I'm not very versed in the art of keeping plants and trees alive. haha

That's why I do appreciate faux plants, like this one and I better be successful with it or I've got the worst green thumb ever!

(I think you thought it was alive, if I'm not mistaken....so success! haha)

That looks really nice @GingerHead!

I also like your light fixtures and curtains!

I got a faux fig tree when they chopped down a wonderful tree with all kinds of cascading branches. It was growing under the sidewalk. So I got the tree to honor it!Woman Very HappyI also put lights on it and 2 of Martha Stewarts Christmas dovesSmiley Happy

Then I found a eucalyptus tree by Valerie. Everyone asks if hers is real which is what many of the reviews said too.

They both add so much inside and something I never thought I would get.

Re: I got my Olive Tree.....

@on the bay  Thanks so much!

The tree that was chopped down, I wonder if it was a weeping willow? I love weeping willows with their weeping, cascading branches....so romantic and majestic! But they do have invasive roots so can cause problems when planted close to infrastructure, like sidewalks.

What a sweet way to honor your beloved tree!  I too never thought I'd buy faux trees, plants or flowers but now have all three because they always look good and don't require any maintenance. Love them!

Your bedroom is stunning and I love your olive tree.

I have a small one I ordered from the Q, it's still in the box it came in.

Yiu have such talent and warmth and it shows in your decorating. As others have mentioned your swirly sconce is perfect. May I ask where you purchased your curtains!

I have some very similar with a white background from Amazon.

Beautiful bedroom.

@lynnie61 Thanks so much!

You do have creativity, I think everyone does....You just have to exercise it and go for it and not be afraid of making mistakes because it just takes experimentation and trail and error....besides that if you love it, it's perfect. There are no rules in your house! haha

Re: I got my Olive Tree.....

@Alsace Gal Thanks, that's so kind of you.

Now open that box and let you olive tree shine! haha

I got my curtains from Amazon, they are probably the same curtains you have with the cream colored background because they did come in that color as well when I purchased mine. Mine are in the "sage,' I believe that's what they were called, although they are more of a pale turquoise. They are light blocking as well. If you need me to try and look them up, I'd be happy to.....

@GingerHead

No I think it must have been some kind of oak, a southern live oak or angel oak.It had lots of curving  very large branches lower to the ground and horizontal-the kind the squirrels and birds loved, or for hanging a swing on! It was so big and beautiful.I cried when they chopped it down. They become like comforting friends that you see every day I think.

We used to have a weeping willow at a house by a pond. I think those are so beautiful too. One of my favorites.Live Oak (Quercus virginiana ...

The tree was kind of like this. This one is called a large coastal southern live oak
