Need some advice. My son had his ballpoint pen hooked on his shirt pocket (didn't know it was in with the rest of the wash). The ink exploded all over his shirt and my white sheets. How do I get this out? I've tried Oxyclean, Shout, Resolve, hairspray and nothing works! UGH!!!!!!! I was thinking of purchasing Joe Campenelli's Stain Remover/Lifter from Q. Is this a good buy or what do you suggest? HELP!!!!!!

Many moons ago I washed (and dried) a lipstick and a pot of lipgloss (they were in a pocket) into an entire load of denim. I had pink swatches all over, like I had painted them on with a nail polish brush. I took them to a dry cleaner, but they couldn't do anything, so in a moment of desperation I used Lestoil, with a toothbrush, on every single stain and let it set into the fabric. I re-washed them and all the stains came out. You can find this at Wal-Mart and some hardware stores.

Also, the hairspray should be cheap (and aerosol) to do the job on ink stains. I'm not sure what brand you tried, but the higher alcohol content works better.
I have also had luck with shaving cream (not gel) and Spot Shot (both applied to the stain) for carpet. I know that people use it for laundry too.

I'm going to try the Lestoil trick. I got lipstick on the lining of one of my favorite summer purses (gel lipstick leaked) and tried just about everything to get it out. The stain is lighter but not completely gone. Thanks for the advice.

Our Dry cleaner told us that the more stuff you put on a stain..the harder it is to get out.
My husband got salad dressing on a brand new golf shirt and I tried using Shout when we got home with no success. He was able to get the stain out, but that was what he told us about stain removal.
I used to use Lestoil on greasy stains and it worked very well....Good Luck!!

I always use liquid diswashing soap, at the moment it is Palmolive, gets any stain out if applied and left to sit for a while.

I took it as a personal mission some years ago to get a felt tip ink stain out of my husband's striped dress shirt (the old leaned into a pen on a desk trick). I worked on it for several days trying different things. I did get the ink out. However, it also took the stripes out where the stain was!!!!
It is kind of funny now but the stripeless shirt was relegated to being worn under a sweater... Good luck!

Alcohol....the "first-aid" variety, lol.
Peroxide for blood stains.
