How to decorate using the Bethleham TSV Fairy Lights?

How do I decorate with these? Dumb question but the battery pack is showing up when using them the way I planned. I'm drawing a blank; should I just end them back? Help!

Re: How to decorate using the Bethleham TSV Fairy Lights?

I received mine today, I never had any before.  I put 2 in Valerie's hurricane with the bird on top and have them on twinkle, very nice.

The vendor showed on things that were too small for the battery box to fit in he had the box laying behind outside of the item.

Hope you don't have to return them as I think they are great, lots of options with the remote.

Re: How to decorate using the Bethleham TSV Fairy Lights?

Well I had written a long post and then it disappeared, I am guessing because a post was removed......this is the short version, sigh.....

I have several large clear, glass containers on my mantle, different sizes and shapes.  They are filled with faux pumpkins and gourds...the battery pack would easily hide down in the bottom of the containers as the gourds and pumpkins would hide the battery pack...would something like that work for you?   I know that is not how you were wanting to use the lights.

I know it's disappointing when something you buy does not work out as planned.

@bettyboop33  Are you talking about the large black ones where the top hinges back and there is a little black bird attatched to it (the cage also comes in white)?  If so, I have 2 of those! Hmm. I have a candle in each but if I take those out, fill it with pumpkins and then pop a set or 2 in each with the pack hidden by the little pumpkins....

Yes!

Not what I was planning in any way but what a great idea! THIS is why this board is so valuable. Hugs!

@Mom2Dogs THANK you!! Just realized I have 2 items that I can do this with but adding fall/winter items and the lights in with them will work perfectly.

I remember Valerie placing mini lights (hers, I think) in clear holders (the colored ones were still see through) and how beautiful it looked but don't recall seeing a battery pack; where they her lights and are they designed differently?

@SahmIam You are welcome, glad you can use your lights!  I really enjoy decorating my home and especially the mantel....it is the focal point of our family room.

I don"t know about Valeries presentation....I rarely watch the shows in their entirety but she could have had them just laying outside the holders and then covered them up with other filler....picks, garland of some sort.....I can be the master of disguise sometimes......Enjoy!

I plan to use mine to light a ceramic nativity scene and a ceramic church that I put out on my entertainment center.I will duct tape the battery pack to the back of each piece where it won't be seen. The nativity is about 12" wide x12" high and the church is slightly smaller. They will easily hide the battery pack.

Re: How to decorate using the Bethleham TSV Fairy Lights?

I've never been a huge fan of the fairy lights. I've watched the presentations and seen them used in a retail setting, and except for using on an indoor wreath, I never came up with a really great use for them in my home. So I have one set, and it is on a Christmas wreath.

I got a set that came with a VPH hurricane several years ago, and they were complete junk. The timer never worked, they wouldn't shut off and I threw them away after just a few weeks, because they would drain the batteries and then the batteries would leak.

Well, in a moment of weakness I ordered the TSV set, but they haven't arrived yet. I got amber, with the idea of just using them for fall decorating. I'm still not sure how or where I will use them, but I will report back here after they arrive and I figure it out.

This is either going to confirm my original thought, that I just don't need these and they are a pain, or I'm going to love them and come up with a million ideas. Anxious to see which it is! LOL

Re: How to decorate using the Bethleham TSV Fairy Lights?

@Mominohio I ordered 3 sets of the white to use year round (rethinking that now) and wanted amber based on posts I read here (need to find them) but amber sold out. I checked the next day and ALL colors were back in stock with free shipping and still had buy 1 save on another with a price difference of $1.25 I think....not exactly a great TSV price we were given but oh well.

The amber I bought 2 sets in. LOVE THE AMBER FOR FALL. What a difference from the white and perfect for Halloween. That's why I was so disappointed when I saw the size of the battery pack....it's black, it's big and it's obvious. I have other lights from a company that makes houses and trees and people for Christmas and Halloween table decor (something 9) and have older sets of small lights with a small white battery pack; was expecting something like that. Not going to use those because they go perfectly with my village but I was surprised to see how the Bethlehem lights used such a bulky battery pack. If you can make them work, they really very nice. THey give off a great amount of light for such tiny bulbs and the remote if fantastic.
