We seem to only get three years out of any we buy. I bought an off set one from the Q for 299.00 and it was great for 3 years and when we opened it yesterday, one of the spokes broke.
We use them almost every day, but we do close them during storms and we store them in the shed during the winter.
The other umbrella that goes in the table had to be replaced last year.

No idea how long it should last, but I'm so tired of ours. It's huge and heavy. If I did something on that line now, It would be the one that rolls out from the roof. Something you crank. It's just too heavy and has to be moved, stored, it's a hassle.

I have been buying the cheap colorful ones at the dollar store for like $15 and they've lasted me about 5 yrs! I have a few because I want to change out color/pattern before they wear out. I don't like that the last one I bought doesn't have the tilt feature though. We have a couple at our camper over different tables and some just over chairs around a firepit.

We bought a black one for our camp and it is 4 years old this year. The fabric is all faded and awful but thus far it still works.

Bought one for $100 four years ago, still using it. We do put a cover on for the winter months.

Ours are out in the hot Arizona sun all year. 2 - 3 years is max.

I get abour 3-4 years out of umbrellas I get for less than $100 from Lowes. The spokes always wear through eventually. For a $300 umbrella, I'd expect more.

I have a budget of nothing over $150 for a patio umbrella and I prefer it to be under $100. I usually get more than 3 years from one and I do close it during the storms. My problem was when I switched table sizes. I purchased a bisto set for the patio and it was difficult to find an umbrella that wasn't too heavy for the table. I could find lightweight umbrellas for cheap prices but they didn't last in a strong breeze. I've also had the pole snap in half but the the canopy was fine. Our patio is enclosed but not covered. I finally found one on QVC as a tsv a few years ago and it's perfect for our table.

I would think it depends on where you live - here in Fl. I wouldn't expect more than a year or so - the sun is so intense.
