How do you clean & condition leather sofa

My sofa needs a good cleaning and conditioning.  I haven't been able to do it since my surgery.

What do you use that is easy and does a good job.  I am a bit afraid to use some of the 'homemade' ones I have seen on Pinterest.

Re: How do you clean & condition leather sofa

My living room furniture is all leather.  Leather cleaning products came w/it.  In the 3 yrs I've had my furniture I've never had to "clean" it.

Didn't cleaning instructions come w/your leather sofa?

I just wipe my leather furniture down with damp rag once a month & vacuum the cat hairs off it.  Leather attracts pet hairs.  Luckly my cat hates leather.

Armour-All makes wipes for leather car interiors.  Works well in my car!  You might want to try on your furniture.

Saddle soap, or Armour All wipes.   I use the wipes on the leather interior of my car, and wouldn't hesitate to use it on a recliner or couch.

I have used Ivory soap on a dish rag whenever the cream color leather sectional needed cleaning over the last 20 years.  Seems to be fine.

@Zhills

Not sure how old your couch is but I bought leather and they gave me Guardsman leather cleaning & conditioning kit.  Every week I use damp microfiber cloth and wipe it down. My kitties don't like leather so they are never on it. Plus, only 2 of us, just normal everyday use.

At school we used Murphy oil soap on our leather bridles and saddles.   Kept them clean and supple from all the sweat.   I have also used it on the leather in my car.  Plus it smells good.

My furniture is only a couple of years old but the kit did not come with it.  Instructions may have.  They would be in my "warranties" box somewhere.  My cleaning lady used a cloth with Windex and somehow Windex just did not seem OK for leather.  It cuts grease on windows, etc.  Wouldn't it dry out leather?  Just curious.  I have some leather conditioner for my ex-SOs car but shouldn't it be cleaned first?

My dog does love it but he has a pad on it.  He is on the pad most of the time.

@Zhills    I would never use Windex on my leather chair.  I would definitely tell the housekeeper not to do that again.  I have a leather chair and ottoman and haven't needed to do anything to it yet.  It's a couple of years old.
