How can I match wood flooring??

Question....I am looking at possibly buying a townhome. It has beautiful wood flooring on the main level, but it stops at the entrance to the kitchen. I would love to be able to put wood floors in the kitchen (so that everything is uniform) but I don't know how in the world I would match the floor? I think the exsisting wood flooring is at least a few years old.

Any suggestions on how I would match it?
