We have a 24-year-old Kitchenaid, side-by-side. While I hate that style (it was recommended by the appliance store salesman), it's still running perfectly fine and it's quiet.
But, when it goes, I'll replace it with most likely a Bosch. (My dishwasher and washing machine are both Bosch. Both about 16 years old now and the dishwasher is so quiet, I sometimes forget it's running.)

@We rescue cats wrote:Our Samsung French Door is 5 years old and is quiet, but it isn't perfect-same as most any other appliance. Has good points and bad points...one of the worst is cleaning the
accessory drawer.
Mine is about that old too. Which one is the accessory drawer?
One thing I like with the door in door is that the shelves pull out when you open it. One thing I don't like is the ice maker getting stuck and frozen, some well known issue with Samsungs. I just run the Force Defrost every couple days for a 30 minute cycle and that works. Does yours do that?
@Sooner food for thought, extra info on Samsungs ![]()

Two years ago I bought a Frigidaire. So far it's been great. I'm sitting right next to it now and don't hear it. It's the french door with freezer on the bottom with an ice maker. I didn't get the water feature. Mine is counter depth but has plenty of room an the shelves are adjustable.
Previously I had a Whirlpool side by side and that thing was a nightmare. Couldn't fit very much in it and couldn't find it anyway.
The water filter broke within 18 months. A couple of years later the ice maker quit. Then the light in the back went out. If the lightbulb was in it the thing buzzed and I was afraid it would short out. Then the things you push to get water and ice broke (they're plastic) and water leaked onto the floor. I was so happy to get rid of that thing.

@LdyBugz I've lived in my rental apt for 25 years! My first GE refrigerator lasted 18 years. It was noisy.
In 2018, it stopped cooling so they replaced it with a new GE refrigerator. It's also noisy as you describe; however, otherwise, it functions properly.
They won't replace it unless it stops working, but if it does, they will replace it. On that basis, I don't complain about the noise.

I just did a total remodel of my kitchen 2 years ago. I went high end with my appliances this time. I have all Blue Star. My frig is extremely quiet.

I think, mine now--in an apartment--is a GE and it is very quiet. The one in my house was Fridaire and that thing sounded like a freight train when it ran. OMG---but the thing lasted nearly 20 years. Had it "fixed" a couple times for the noise--never really was quiet tho.

Mine is Frigidaire and is very quiet. I only hear it when it dumps ice cubes. We waited months and months for it during the pandemic. I didn't have many to choose from because of the space in the kitchen. I wanted all the appliances to match and am pleased with the black stainless.

I have a GE, a Frigidaire, and a Whirlpool; none are what I consider quiet, but not loud to the point of annoying either.
