@lolakimono   Dull & dreary immediately popped into my mind.  The white walls and the light from the windows help temper that sensation.

I would change the dining room set for something in my taste, add some wall art and decor and it would be appealing.  As it is , drab and dreary.

My thought was "WHY? are they covering up one of the main focal points???

The fireplace almost can't be seen.

 

(The other would be a staircase as far as we can tell.).
