Re: How Do You Set Your Clocks?

I get up for work at 4AM; it's never light out at that time. I think I push my alarm clock 30 minutes fast because I try to tell myself it's morning and not night yet. I know it's silly, but I get up with that clock, eat breakfast by the clock in the living room, and leave by the microwave clock. My car clock gives me a few cushion minutes in case the weather is bad or there's a traffic jam. I've never been late for work. When I retire in 2-3 years, I hope to set the clocks at real time.

Re: How Do You Set Your Clocks?

Like someone else mentioned, I primarily rely on my phone for time and alarm, which is automatically set to the correct time.  I actually don't know one person that uses an alarm clock anymore.  We are a phone-reliant society.  Any clocks in my home are set to the exact time.  I refuse to do unnecessary math during my day.  My car is a different issue.  I have always had the clock 3 minutes fast.  I live in an area with one of the worst commutes in the country, and I refuse to be late for anything.  Because I actually believe the time on the clock in the car (scary, isn't it?) I may drive a little more aggressively if needed to arrive on time.

Mine are right on time.  DD keeps them fast and it makes me crazy.  Never know when to hustle the kids out, buses don’t wait.

Re: How Do You Set Your Clocks?

Before I retired our bedroom alarm clock was set 30 minutes fast.  It would let it go off about three times; at that point I knew I had to finally get up.  For some reason my car's clock is about 8 minutes fast.  DH gripes about it, but It like a buffer for me.  I find it relieves my anxiety when I think I be running late for appointments due to unexpected traffic issues.

Re: How Do You Set Your Clocks?

My clocks are set on the dot perfect.

I don't understand how setting them ahead helps you not be late if you know your clock is fast.  I can't fool myself. I am too smart for that.  So silly IMO.

Exact time.  I am never late; always early for appointments.  Sometimes even too early.

Re: How Do You Set Your Clocks?

I use my iPhone/iPad for exact time.

Never understood the ‘different’ times (fast or slow)

for personal clocks, watches & alarms.

The Mental Gymnastics would be too exhausting.

Re: How Do You Set Your Clocks?

@Desert Lily   Retired now since June, 2017.  All during my college and subsequent working years always had all clocks and watches set fifteen minutes ahead.  Hate running and rushing to be somewhere.

Hate being late for class, work, appointments, etc. and since I don't drive public transportation doesn't wait for stragglers.

Now that I no longer work all clocks and wristwatch set to real time.

I'm a fanatic about wanting my clocks to be exactly on the correct time on the dot.  I'm quite capable of getting myself out the door in time to get where I'm expected.

Me too @Kachina624. and in the kitchen, the microwave and the stove have to match exactly to the second.  I will stand by one with my finger on the set button waiting for the other to catch up to the minute.
