I'm quite a few miles from the coast right now, but my realtor assured us that after the next big earthquake we'll have beachfront property.

Hope you have blessings of good health (in every way) during your special year.
Thanks so much for your very kind wishes, feline. I take it you are a cat person. I have a gorgeous white spoiled brat but love him with all my heart. Thanks, again. docsgirl

I can look down on the city at night and have a good view of the Sandia Mountains across the valley. I like to sit on my patio in the evening. Right before the sun sets, the mountains typically turn a deep mauve color for about 5 minutes. I never tire of watching this.
@Kachina624, my daughter was born in ABQ and my brother still has his home base there. One of the most beautiful sunsets in the WORLD!! That is for sure!

Anyone else in here worry about being alone as they age? I've never been comfortable with being alone.

I grew up in Southern California and we moved around a lot but we always live in houses - Pasadena, Seal Beach, Orange, Tustin, Newport Beach, etc. I got married and again lived only in houses - Santa Ana, Orange, Corona Del Mar, etc. I now live outside of Seattle in a 4 bedroom, 2 bath home a block from Lake Washington. Although I would like a smaller home I absolutely love where I live and I love living alone. I will go into a condo or apartment kicking and screaming!!

When we first got married we lived in an apartment. Within a few months we bought our first home. 18 years later we built our next home and now 18 years later (again) we built our cottage on our favorite lake in upper MI. Being newly retired we did seriously contimplate getting a condo. But most of our retired friends that have condos are always complaining about the rules of their association. Nope, that decided it for us. We built this cottage the exact way we wanted and my dh has his huge dream garage. It works for us.

I love my solitude, but sleeping alone in an empty house is a little frightening. I'm not likely to ever live alone, as I have a son who will probably live with me all of my life. I'm more concerned about him living alone when I'm gone.
