Re: Honest discussion about VPH quality.

It seems as time goes on, I prefer Val's harvest decor items more than I do her holiday themed items. I guess there aren't as many of them and so the preponderance of them aren't as 'cute-sie' as it seems are many of her Christmas items.

Re: Honest discussion about VPH quality.

I love what I have bought from Valerie over the years....nice gifts, in the past....wreaths I still hang and love, and my beautiful horse lamp. I read the reviews, which help me a lot in making a purchase....I never miss a Valerie show, they are the best.....I too think the quality is an issue everywhere.

Re: Honest discussion about VPH quality.

@ gardensia and mousiegirl--I had those VPH candle gardens, too. Loved the 5 different heights and the platter/charger they came on. And the candles lasted forever!

But what I REALLY loved was the lovely vanilla scent that wafted throughout my house whether the candles were lit or unlit.

What I very definitely remember is Valerie speaking so highly of the manufacturer of the candles: Hanna's candles.

I googled them and see that they are located in Fayetteville ARK, and still making candles. Looks like Walmart may carry them. When I looked on their FB page, it seems as tho they may have given in to the tendency to create more elaborate scents.

Just give me yummy, ivory colored vanilla {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

Here are some VPH 3 pillars: H359329 sugar cookie scented

I do love Valerie so, and think she really decorates soooooo beautifully. I love to watch her shows and see how she arranges "vignettes." I did prefer when she was not sponsored, so to speak, by QVC, and her company was called Heartfelt and Handcrafted. I feel the quality was better then.

I just wish she'd bring back real candles as not everyone wants the fake one. She used to sell candle gardens with 5 candles at staggered heights the fragrance was amazing and long lasting.

I bought these ... had them in ivory and in deep burgundy; each set came with a gold charger plate. They scented the entire 1st floor without even being lit. VPH made SUCH a HUGE deal of Hannah's Candles being soooo wonderful, etc....and they were. Sad to see them not available.

Re: Honest discussion about VPH quality.

I have always liked VPH and her products, but I have noticed a decline in recent years as well. The prices have gone up, while the quality has gone down. However, I have noticed this trend in MANY of QVC's vendors; not just Valerie.

Way back when, I used to purchase her candles exclusively. However, something seriously changed in the quality. They produced crazy amounts of thick, black soot and stopped burning evenly. Eventually I stopped purchasing them and noticed that QVC stopped producing the "Home Fragrance" Valerie shows. Her candles are barely on-air anymore.

The other product that has slightly disappointed me in recent years are her live wreaths. They shed like crazy and aren't assembled as fully or beautifully as they are on tv. I normally have to take a scissor to the wreath and cut it into "shape". There are too many pieces sticking out, falling out, or hanging in strange positions. Also, the delicious pine fragrance is practically non-existent. Last year I tried something different and ordered a wreath from my daughter's pre-k. It was larger, fuller, and more fragrant than Valerie's. It also only cost me $20. I will be ordering from there again this year.

Those are the only items that I can honestly say I am unhappy with. That is probably because I haven't ventured out to try any of her newer items. However, her presentations continue to be wonderful and offer the idea of top-quality items. I read that many people on here are happy with them.

If something from VPH truly caught my eye, I wouldn't hesitate to order it. A few bad products don't mean that everything in her line is bad...

Re: Honest discussion about VPH quality.

I very rarely buy VPH items. I like to watch her shows for ideas, but I always find very nice home décor items that are greatly discounted at local stores. I don't entertain much and don't do a lot of seasonal decorating.

Re: Honest discussion about VPH quality.

I purchased 4 or 6 sets of the mercury glass tree TSV's last year. Some had glass bottoms and some had plastic. All were flawed and could not even make one nice set. I called CS and they said they had received many, many complaints and to return them and I would not be charged for the return shipping.

On the other hand I have ordered the live balsam wreaths for many years and only once received a dried out one. I always order 3 CIJ wreaths for the first delivery week. They are always lush and beautiful but never have much scent once unpackaged.

Re: Honest discussion about VPH quality.

I bought "hand painted" ornaments for gifts at work about 10 years ago. It was a set of 6. They arrived in terrible condition. One hinge was broke & the paint job was all over the place. I had to run out and find something else for the gals at Hallmark. Never have I purchased her stuff again, nor will I.

Re: Honest discussion about VPH quality.

Although I have not purchased anything from the VPH line, I've seen many, many items over the years that look identical to items I've seen and/or purchased at TJ Maxx over the years. I am happy so many like her products and aesthetic, and I really understand the need for convenience, I really do! But many of her things I've seen elsewhere.
