Re: Honest discussion about VPH quality.

Seems to me the quality is feast or famine... Some items appear to be pretty well made, others, at the risk of upsetting some of her faithful fans, are really pretty junky. I've purchased a fair amount from VPH and enjoy much of what I've purchased, but then again, as has long been suggested, not sure whether or not most of this stuff is truly 'exclusive' or merely sold by a third party for others to market under their own names. Either way, it's clearly time for a little more variety. The whole kitschy motif, complete with gingerbread houses, lighted wreaths, fake candles, orbs and mercury glass thing has been done and then done again.

Would like to see more furniture items from VPH, along the lines of what Linda Dano used to offer. More things likes clocks, tables, lamps and storage pieces would be nice.

Re: Honest discussion about VPH quality.

I purchased a double set of her Christmas china + serving pieces years ago. It is absolutely beautiful, one of my favorite holiday items. While not a 'give-away', it was very well priced considering the quality. Very well crafted, excellent hand painting, beautiful colors which have remained true even-though I run them through the dishwasher.

Haven't seen anything of that quality in years. {#emotions_dlg.sad}

I suppose the offerings are based on what Q feels the market will support.

Re: Honest discussion about VPH quality.

I see many, not all, but many of the VPH items on flash sales sites and in local stores because the items are not exclusive to QVC. For the most part, the prices offered by QVC are competitive with the same item I find locally, even with coupon discounts like at Hobby Lobby and Michael's. Sometimes, the shipping & handling will cause the item to be overpriced, but not always. Of course, there are a few examples of finding an item locally for much less than QVC's price, but that occurs less than you might think and you can't count on it happening. Thanks to QVC's generous return policy, any defective item can be returned with no cost to the buyer just as you would be able to return a defective item to a local store. The difference is that if you buy locally, you can inspect the item before purchase to assure that you get an item that is not defective.

As for whether the items sold on QVC are worth the price, that's a personal decision. Many people don't have access to a variety of decor products because of geography or personal mobility. The proliferation of flash sales sites has made more items available through the Internet, but most have a no-return policy and very little description information per item so there's a higher risk when buying from those sites than from QVC.

Quality vs. price has always been a trade-off that is different for every individual and we should respect that.

I buy home décor from Terry's Village in Omaha. Very nice quality.

I am going to have to disagree with you on this!

Re: Honest discussion about VPH quality.

It's been awhile since I bought some VPH items, her taste and my taste aren't one in the same anymore! I have found other places to buy items that I like!

I will be so glad when July is over, I am not a fan of Christmas in July and I am sick of it! How can you think of Christmas when the heat index is 105 outside!!!

Thinking of Christmas helps take my mind off of the outside heat.

Re: Honest discussion about VPH quality.

I used to love her items and though I still do, the quality really has gone sideways from what it used to be.

I'm lucky that I have a lot of places to shop here but I sure understand the frustration for those who don't have a lot of options.

I like Christmas in July myself.

Re: Honest discussion about VPH quality.

I 've noticed quality of many things has gone down in our country. Smiley Sad Be it clothes, cars , food,etc.. even the "made in America" products look terrible. It's everywhere, not just on the Q.

Re: Honest discussion about VPH quality.

Overall I do like Valerie's items. I do look forward to her seasonal pieces.

Some of VPH items that I have purchased have been very nice quality---the Christmas vintage style church and house I bought last year were EXCELLENT QUALITY and I was very pleased. I loved my frosted snow birds, and bunny plates, decorative reindeer and pumpkins. The teacup sets were nice quality---one set had a bird on top of the lid, one had a cat.

I was not real happy with the mercury glass birds and nest---the birds seemed almost plastic since the MG did not appear to be of very good quality compared to other pieces I have seen in local stores.

I own several of her older artificial wreaths the quality and price were good--now they are somewhat skimpy and I don't know if any of you have checked recently but the wreaths that were once reasonable in the $39 to $49 range are now $60 to $91---WOW!!!{#emotions_dlg.scared}Since these are out of my price range (can make them or find cheaper else where) I can't respond on the quality of these high priced wreaths!

Some of her other items --bunnies and chicks not very good quality, I bought a candle and the glass on holder was so thin it easily cracked. Some of the garlands-hit or miss.

I am not a fan of the spheres and I feel that there is an overkill of anything that is successful--such as the glass spheres---now we have regular spheres, illuminated spheres, glittered spheres.....and then a take off of the spheres--similar material now done in mason jars!!! And the ottomans---ENOUGH! We need a variety and some unique items....NOT THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER but in different variations!-- And I have to disagree with another poster, I don't want her showing furniture pieces......

One thing VPH customers have been asking for is pedestals like the ones she uses in her displays.....so she brought out MG ones---how about ones in wood, resin, or metal....

And I think it's QVC that limits her shows......
