Homemade laundry detergent

Mary Hunt, columnist, gave a recipe for laundry detergent.

3 Tbsp borax

3 Tbsp washing soda

2 Tbsp original Blue Dawn dishwashing liqud

Find a one gallon container with tight fitting lid. Pour in borax, washing soda and liquid Dawn. Add two cups of very hot water. Apply the lid and shake until the soda and borax have dissolved. Now fill the container with cold water and reapply the lid. To use: 1 to 2 cups to each load of laundry. It will appear very thin- like water. That's the way it is supposed to be.

Haven't tried it yet because I don't know what washing soda is?????? Anyone know?????
