Re: Home repairs—one thing leads to another…

@Dragonflyveb

Usually when there's a gas leak inside a home they tell you not to run an electric space heater b/c that can cause an explosion.

The real danger of a gas leak is not usually from breathing it but rather from the danger of explosions ignited by something like an electrical spark from something in the house.

Re: Home repairs—one thing leads to another…

Home maintenance is a full time job!

Our house is a little quirky but that's part of what I love about it.  We're built over a crawl space, too, and I am having a harder and harder time finding service people who want to work there.

Lucky you that your issue is on the way to resolution quickly.  A couple of years ago our heat was out about a week because of a faulty furnace part (fortunately we were in a mild weather spell, and we have Duraflames - carefully monitored and never run at night).

At least the electricity is running - talking about it helps ease the burden, I find.

Yup, the gas company had me evacuate and shut off the gas. Luckily the leak was in the crawl space, but still pretty scary!

all things considered, I was happy to get such fast responses from the utility company,

now I just need it fixed and get the heat back on!

one good thing--my cats are being very affectionate. I think it's the heating pad in my lap, but I could be wrong! LOL

@Dragonflyveb  Geez what a nightmare for you!  Good thing you looked into the water bill though.

If there's one thing I've learned over the years it's that there doesn't seem to be a "single" repair situation.  You'll need to fix "A", and then "B", and maybe even a "C" before it's all said and done!

When you hear the words "Can I show you something?" from a repair person, it's usually not a good thing!  Oy!

Good luck, stay warm!
