I live in Colorado. Just recently it was voted as the most desirable place to live by more than one association. People are moving here in hoards and there are no houses available to move in to. You can't even find places to rent. Apartments are so expensive to rent as well. Many folks are moving in together to share a house or apartment, very crowded situation everywhere. This is driving up the cost of houses. I am so thankful that I am not moving any time soon.

I just moved (downsized for a second time) earlier this month.
Sons are grown and have their own homes, so it was nearing time to sell the family-sized house. Inventory in my state has been very low; something of a seller's market, so I took the plunge and sold. My house was turn-key. Sold in a day for well above asking price because the buyers wanted my neighborhood, where residents move infrequently, and all they had to do was unpack.
Interest rates have been on the rise all year, although as usual, rates stayed flat throughout the summer.

That's how it was here during the oil boom. No houses for sale or rent. People were sleeping in tents & the police were making them leave.
As it is now we are a smaller area but have quite a few hotels for our size. People come to town & have to drive an hour to find a hotel since ours are all booked up. I don't know with who or why??? Nothing going on around here that I know of. I don't understand how all the hotels stayed booked.

We had a Realtor look at ours a while back. They told us if we put it on the Market to be ready to move because it would sell fast. We just had the Realtor look & he already had someone knocking on the door to see the house before DH left to go to work. We had not even listed it. Not very happy about that.

@SilleeMee. Colorado is so gorgeous!!!!! I love it there.....I used to have a sister and two aunts live in Aurora and a good friend in Greeley.......My husband's good friend and his wife live there as well, and have been there for probably 20 years or so, originally from the Midwest.....They said they will never move back to the Midwest!

We have a local magazine that shows the resales for the past month and house details and how long they were on the market, etc... Out of about 30 last month 23 sold in less than a week and we are talking $300-500,000 plus homes that are about 10-15 years old.
And yes we have new construction around here. I couldn't believe it.

This year is my 50th year of living in Colorado. I love it here! I live in Colorado Springs and imo there is no place as nice as it is here. I'm a military brat so I have lived in other places and I think Colorado has all the best of everything.![]()

@Nightowlz: Incredibly unprofessional and outrageouos behavior from the realtor.

This is the craziest thing I think I've ever heard ... here in our community the houses do not even get the "for sale" sign on them & they are SOLD for full asking price!
Villas are selling for $230-240,000 and houses are selling upwards of $280,000 -- some are actually have bidding wars!
It's insane. The "turnover" is happening where the older are dying (or moving) and the realtor here knows this - therefore, he has a list of 'interested' homebuyers...so I hope that is the case when I sell.
I bought at the very low point of selling when owners were "desperate" for buyers...boy, looks like I made a good decision as I can sell my house for 2.5x's what I paid! (and mine came furnished with new furniture!)
