This is pretty! I do like clear glass for decorating. It especially lightens up areas with too much darkness or too much color/pattern.

I'd never get away with this in our bathrooms, as they are very small, and have no counter space. I can just see having to clean up shattered glass on a regular basis, when they were knocked over.

Sorry that it's not better, but I thought it might give you an idea of how the lantern would look in your bathroom.

@Marsha2003

That makes me even more certain that I'd love the bronze lantern in there!

It helped Marsha.  Thanks!

Thank you all for your opinions!!  I really wanted to stop thinking about it, and place my order so I could go to bed.  I finally just asked DH what he thought.  He wasn't crazy about the red.  Oh well.  He liked the slate and that it is different than other lanterns we have.  I ordered the bronze too, but didn't tell him that.  It's on WL though so I may not get it or I can cancel later.  While I wouldn't have minded the ivory too or a variety of sizes, I had to stay strong.  If I got too many more, I'd have to start replacing DH's lanterns and I didn't want to do that.  May just get some luminaras for them though sometime.

Good night!!

@crazycockermom, Well, you ended up ordering the two that I ordered. Did you choose 19-inch?  I like the proportions of the 19" lantern that @Marsha2003 pasted into your vanity pic.

@Mominohio asked on a thread (somewhere) what additional colors people would've wanted in this lantern.  I can only think of one that I would have loved to see, and that is a deeper red, one that is not too purple and not too rust colored--just a nice really dark red.

I would love to see a more ornate lantern but that is another thread LOL!

In this lantern, I would have liked to see a dark, rich green, similar to this color:

@ChiliPepper

@Mominohio,

I know what you mean. I prefer more details on a lantern, and some of my favorites have scrollwork or other small details. Luminara lanterns aren't as detailed, but I am pleased with the quality of my one Heritage lantern.

I didn't think of dark green. That's a great idea. That made me think of rich dark teal,  which I also would've liked.  :-)

I really like this look.  I used to decorate our bathroom like this only my apothecary jars had silver lids. The downside was I was always washing the jars and polishing the lids.

I like that darker green too!

I was late to the Luminara lanterns because we have a local gift shop that has tons of really nice lanterns, and most of them are available in multiple sizes to match, and are rather ornate most of the time. So I was very much in to more ornate lanterns. They also are much cheaper than the Luminaras and often heavier and better made (and way cheaper cause they come without candles, and I put one of the ten million I already own in them!!).

And @SHOPR, you are very right. One of the things that was holding me back from Luminara is they were 'plain'. That is done on purpose by the company as they will have a wider appeal to people with many different kinds of decor.

After enough presentations, and passing up the Luminaras for a long time, I one day decided that my collection had enough of the more detailed and ornate lanterns, and I could really do something with some more simple lines. Well, since then, I have several different styles of Luminara.

I really thought before ordering these pedestal ones, (but not because I didn't like them) as I have a couple of pedestal lanterns already, but the fact that these come apart and we can use the pedestal separate from the actual lantern kind of did it for me.

I'd like to see Luminara do something a little more ornate too......or maybe I don't need to see that at all (if ya know what I mean!).

Re: Help? Which lantern for my bathroom counter?

I liked the concept of the TSV, but I passed on it as I really don't need another lantern.  I have too many as it is.
