Weird post!   Trying to find the app mentioned on the local NY ABC news last night to measure the heat loss from your windows. I have searched their website with no luck. Thanks all

A few years ago I hired a company to evaluate my home for energy efficiency. An energy audit was done on my house. They said most of the heat transfers occur through windows and for an average home that transfer is about 30%. In other words, 30% of the heat inside your home is lost through your windows and as much as 40% can go out your ceilings into the attic and eventually out the roof in some cases.

@I am still oxox  I think the app requires you to also have some kind of an IR camera to link to the app. Our electric company (PECO) offers free to $99.00 energy assessments. We had one done several years ago, and it was helpful.

@PA Mom-mom  we live in a development and do not pay Con Ed directly, but thanks for the suggestion

Yes, a infra-red camera is needed for your phone as @PA Mom-mom  mentioned. Those cost a couple hundred dollars. Using just your phone camera won't work with the app.

You should check with your electric company to see if they offer this.

We just had our electric company do one on our house yesterday. It's free of charge. They did blower door test, used infrared camera to show us hot/cold areas, changed all our light bulbs that were not LED to LED, hooked up surge protector, check all our windows/doors, put insulation pads in outlets that didn't have them, checked insulation in attic, looked at refrigerator, hot water heater, ac other appliances & electronics. He was looking at those to see if they are energy efficient or how old they are. That's what they grade you on. We got a grade of 8 out of 10. He said nobody gets a 10. Everything got an 8 or 9 grade except our AC. It only got a 3 because it's 24 years old. LOL!!!  We are trying to decide if we should buy a new one now or wait until the new refrigerant they use comes out next year. It was supposed to come out this year but didn't. Don't want a new unit that uses the new stuff until they work out all the issues. 

We are going to install a new storm front door plus add insulation wrap on some pipes on hot water heater. 

The exhaust fan in our bedroom is like a hole in the ceiling so we will be fixing that. 

They also emailed us a 15 page report in a pdf to see what was done.

@I am still oxox  I think you might check with the development HOA or admin to see if Con Ed can do an evaluation. As @Nightowlz elaborated, you might be able to get an evaluation without making a big investment.
