Re: Headboard or Headboard & footboard?

I also have an Amish bed with headboard and footboard as well as  side rails.

If I want to remove the footboard, then the side rails have to go, too. I would have to attach a traditional bed frame to the headboard. Something to consider in making your decision.045 Royal Wrap.jpg

I love the look of sleigh beds but agree with another poster that almost any  style of foot board is  not the easy to  deal with  in amking the bed look nice with an over flowing bed spread. To me a Headboard is a must

Re: Headboard or Headboard & footboard?

I prefer to not have a footboard for the reasons others have stated.  However, my guest room has a bed with a very low footboard and I've found that making the bed isn't particularly hard.  Rotating the mattress on that bed is actually easier because I can use the footboard as a fulcrum/pivot point.

Re: Headboard or Headboard & footboard?

I've always had a headboard. Footboards make it difficult to change sheets and tuck-in top sheets and blankets.

Also consider any discomfort or pains you may have with your hands, wrists and arms. My dear sister and I found it painful to even have a headboard.

I'm  in the process of purchasing a new bed and decided there won't be either a headboard or footboard.

Definetely yes to a headboard and a definite no to footboard.

Re: Headboard or Headboard & footboard?

All of my current beds are old beds that have been in the family for many years and they all have headboards and footboards.  I've never even thought about the linens changing issue because the beds are what they are and I chose to have them.

Neither!

After inadvertently hitting my head on the headboard more than once, (with my usual grace), I got rid of it.Smiley Tongue

I have four pillows on the bed and several smaller pillows so can easily and comfortably sit up in bed.

@amyb.  I won't have a bed without both a head and foot board.  The head board give the room a "finished" look.  Without it, a bedroom looks like a youngster's first apartment.

The foot board serves to hold the bedding in place, keeps blankets and spread from sliding off the bed.

Neither....We have two twin xl adjustable beds and it's the easiest bedmaking ever!

In deference to a headboard, we have a large beautiful triptych over our beds that ties the room together. Cat Happy
