So my mom is having a dilemma. She got these curtains from BBB. We also have this rug. The rug is ivory and blue. The curtatains are white and blue. She is thinking she should just look for plain ivory. Is the print to much with the rug? What about them being so white. When my dad gets them up I will post a picture. I think a solid ivory would look best. She says she should of just stick with it. What do you think? The curtain rod is one of those side mount where it doesn’t go al the way across the window.

Re: Having a curtain dilemma

I'm with you...I think a plain ivory curtain would look great with that rug.  The curtains and rug in one room could look a little 'busy'...but that's just me (or I could be wrong)....  I, myself, prefer a solid color with anything patterned...

She will probably return them. She is going to put them up do about a week and see how she feels. My sister is coming in town Friday so she is going to see what they think. My dad didn’t want just plain ones . But when you have the design in the rug it looks a little busy.

Re: Having a curtain dilemma

I think it will work nicely!  The rug is really blue with cream accents which are very narrow.  It will not be directly on top of the drapes but on the floor a distance away.  I think they will be a nice compliment to each other.  Because of the distance, meaning the rug is on the floor and the drapes on the wall, it is a trick of the eye.  They are in the same family meaning related.  I think it will look great but might take awhiile to get used to if you like every matchy matchy.

Yep. That’s why she is going to go ahead and put them up. She can always take them down and return them if she ends up not liking them after a couple weeks.

@ccassaday I think they might well work together. It depends on the size of the room, how many windows there are that will feature the curtains and what else is being used. If the plan is to use solid linens this combination adds a little visual interest. Personally, I'm not much for 'geographics' but if she likes them, I don't think these two together would necessarily be too much. The other consideration is whether the blues work together. If they don't then it would probably be best to seek something else. If they do then there's nothing to lose by giving it a try.

I like it just the way it is.   Imho one print balances out the other very nicely.  But, I'm not a matchy-matchy person so you might want to ignore my opinion.Smiley Wink

I also think it will work. If your mom is not conservative when it comes to decorating, I think she will like it. It’s not boring. The room will have that “wow factor”.

I think they look great together.  When the room has furniture and other furnishings in there, your eyes will  not focus on the curtains and the rug.  Everything will blend in.
