Interior designers, not to be confused with interior decorators, are people who redesign an existing building or house, by figuring out ways of moving walls, taking down walls around and design another way for the rooms or additions as in reconstructing to make it more functional for a different time.  Interior decorators are people who come in and tell you what furniture to buy and where to put it and what schotzkis to buy.  Interior designers work with architects and building sciences people on the construction side of things.

Sarah Richardson, from HGTV, she has great style.  I miss her show on HGTV.

My parents used a decorator when we moved from one area of the state to another....that person did not take over, she just helped make decisions.

Designers/decorators have access to things that the typical consumer does not have access to.   I used a local person years ago, I needed a kick start for my adjoining living and dining room.  She gave me a few ideas about color and fabric.  That was probably 25 years ago.  The cost was $50.00 for one hour of her time in my home.  Best $50.00 I ever spent.

I would never turn over the house to someone, with out my in put on color, furnishings, etc.

I like Nick Lewis on Youtube. He gets down to the point, gives great ideas, & doesn't make you listen to a bunch show-boating. I love his taste in home decor.

Agree, @Sweet Kitties ,  Nick Lewis gets right to the point, and is very informative-- and funny, in a dry way!
