Re: Has your home decor preferences changed drastically overtime?

Funny that I saw this topic, as I was thinking that I wish I could sell that huge Georgian king bed and dresser with massive beveled mirror...throw the mattress and box springs on the floor, lean a massive mirror against the wall, put the TV on the other wall...and lastly put a clip-on-lamp on my book.....or should I just paint it all with Annie Sloan, because I'm just bored and over it?

Re: Has your home decor preferences changed drastically overtime?

My mom followed every fad that came along. She was THE first to paint the trim on our house avocado green (had to have the paint store mix it for at her directions) and was peeved when others in town followed suit! LOL!!! I have never had anything trendy in my house except maybe a pillow. I didn't do the ducks thing in the 80's and 90's, and have always gravitated toward more timeless things. Right now, I'm living with furniture that is a bit more modern, simple in design, classic and timeless than the Queen Ann table I just got rid of that was the thing in the 80's.

I too am decluttering and getting ready to move into later years without so much stuff. BUT, I've never been one to have I guess what you'd call décor sitting around or lots of people pictures out. And I've never had a centerpiece on the table except for a party. I've always been into linens and tableware--but it isn't sitting out all the time. I have GOT to get rid of some of that! LOL!!!

Re: Has your home decor preferences changed drastically overtime?

I have revolved over time. I have probably changed my decor dozens of times. Just like I wouldn't wear the same outfit every day that is how I feel about my home. I have always loved the looks I have created but when it starts to look dated or old I change it. Even f it is to just change the decor around or move furniture or a complete make over. I have a friend that is multi millionaire and she stills has her furniture and decor of the 70s. I don't go to her home when she hosts garden club because her furniture is so old and when you sit n it you can't get up without help. I love her to death but I have back problems and can't walk straight for several days.
