Re: Has anyone ever had leather furniture dyed?

We have one leather recliner.  It will be 25 years old in a few days.  I purchased it for my DH on his 40th birthday.  The color ( dark green)  is still like new.

My DH has dyed leather shoes, belts and other leather goods himself.  It has never rubbed off on anything.

I think $200 is  a good price to refresh your furniture’s color. Just because it’s only guaranteed for one year doesn’t mean it won’t hold up longer. It sounds like a good investment.

@151949   I know someone that painted over fabric chairs.  I am sure you would have to ask at your local hardware store what paint could be used over leather or Google it and see if you actually can paint over leather.  Good luck.  Cat Happy

It's certainly less expensive by a long mile than getting it reupholstered or buying new furniture.

Exactly, the place where he dyed the ottoman is still looking fine 8 years later. All we have to lose is $200 vs. several thousand if we have to buy new furniture.
