I'd probably get the kind that look like chiminy cleaners and get 2.   You can add sections.   Not sure what it would cost to pay to have done.

I don't even know who you would call - appliance repair man? Last year when we had an issue with the dryer it was the appliance man who cleaned it but he is my cousin & he said he went up on the roof for me - but he doesn't do roofs anymore. I agree it would seem it needs to be done yearly.

@151949,

The guy who cleans my carpet also cleans air ducts and dryer vents. I suggest you start with that type "home cleaning" services. Stanley Steemer and Coit Cleaning are two national companies but there are many small private guys out there who probably offer better prices.

Re: Has anyone ever bought a dryer vent cleaning kit?

I'll have to look up HANDYMEN in the phone book.

A handy man is all I can think of as well.   I'd get an estimate myself, as it's so long.  Ours is one of those inside vent things.   I've never liked it much, but thinking about cleaning one from the roof isn't that appeailing either.   In previous houses the laundry room was close to an outside wall and the vent went straight out sideways.
