An animal (raccoon?) has been getting garbage out of my trashcan at night without removing the lid. Or by removing the lid and locking it back on. The lid locks on so tight I have trouble doing it. The garbage that was on the ground this morning had been inside of a plastic bag in the can.
Last night I left the can right by my front door because there is a motion sensor light there. I thought the light would scare the animal away.
I found the can this morning on its side back where I usually keep it, about 15 feet from the front door. It weighs at least 10 pounds when full. It has large handles which stop it from rolling.
How is this possible?

A human dumpster diver maybe????

That doesn't sound like a raccoon. Has to be a much bigger animal or a human animal!

Well, it's nice of him to replace the lid, anyway!

Have you thought about a surveillance camera?
Scary to have something or someone lurking around the house at night.
I'm a scaredy-cat 🫣

Two legged critters look in trash can for personal info.
