Re: Hallway Put to Good Use...

Perfect!

Books must like to be in darker places.

I often think about the various upscale/rick folks' libraries.

Very dark rooms with dark wood paneling and shelves.

(I could never figure out why those libraries are so dark, having to use lamps to read by.)

'Anyhow'..............O/P's idea is brilliant.

Books are happy (no direct sunlight) and out of the way.

I have a narrow hallway that folks (including myself) never use.

I installed plastic upright shelving and store pantry items and miscellaneous items.

Out of the way, and absolutely nobody sees the shelving, no matter what.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

@stevieb

I have seen a lot of old NY apartments with shelves like this in the hallways. It's a clever use of space.  I like the look, but maybe not the color.  If my hallways were wide enough I would do this. I have too many books, and with not enough space to house them, I frequently have to purge ones that I would have liked to have kept.
