Emma Sims-Hildetch is one of the younger English designers getting a lot of attention.  I like what she did with this family house.

They kept the wonderful old beams of course, but "blasted" them, and she said it lightened things up considerably.

Here's where she shines-- she brings this simple little sitting room into the 21st century, but somehow there's still a little hint of "Miss Marple" around, just a hint!

Love the fabrics.

There's still room for practicalities, like an efficient mudroom.

Dining room goes a little more moody, but still retains that calm, timeless feeling, love the green out the window...

The homeowners are avid cooks, and they went for a perhaps more "sleek" kitchen than I'd go for in a house like this, but still nice.

Not much of a wallpaper person, but for some reason this bath enchanted me!  Must be the soft blues.  I love that the shades have that blue self-stripe detail too.

So pretty.

I bet they have several charming under-the-eaves bedrooms like this, with beams and quirky shapes.

Low-key, tranquil, timeless.

Re: HOUSE IN SURREY, ENGLAND

What a charmer.

I love how they transformed the beams.
The dining room is inviting, gosh, even the mudroom is inviting.

I wonder how long after the photo was taken that it took for the kitchen to become cluttered and look lived-in!

Re: HOUSE IN SURREY, ENGLAND

That's a designer I would happily hire. This house is beautifully put together without any sense of look at me, I'm designed.

Beautiful, warm and inviting. Looks like a home vs styled for the photo. Thank you for sharing.

Low-key, tranquil, timeless.

And not cluttered with items that serve no purpose.  Looks practical, livable.

Re: HOUSE IN SURREY, ENGLAND

Very pretty home.

The only thing I would change is the print drapes (I prefer solid colors) and Burgundy/Wine/Maroon is not my favorite color in Home Decor so I would change that.
