HOME LIBRARY FACING A GOLF COURSE

This really struck me, and I have a weakness for libraries.  Interior designer Doniphan Moore renovated this Vero Beach, Florida house for his own family.

He said that the vaguely Georgian, single story design gave him his clues for the interiors.  The house is oriented to the outdoors, surrounded by live oaks, as well as palms.

This library seems so dreamy to me.  The lacquered walls are in soft "Blue Ground" by Farrow and Ball.  I like the way they interact with all the natural light coming in.

The west-facing library opens onto their patio, as well as a golf course, and he says the family likes to gather here at sunset.   Love the rug, Palladian-type French doors, the malachite-painted table, the bar cart, and Art Deco accents in chairs, lamps and stool.

Enlarging this really brings up the details.

The library adjoins, and is really an extension of the larger living room.  This is less dramatic, more subdued, but still has hints of that cool, laid-back, 'old Palm Beach' vibe.  Those couches look to have serious 'sinkability' comfort. Grab a book from the adjacent library, and throw down!

Re: HOME LIBRARY FACING A GOLF COURSE

I have always loved library rooms and this one is lovely!  The blue color is serene and fitting for a room to relax and read in..  I think the chairs are so pretty and comfortable looking, love the design also.  The French doors are stunning .  I like the living room , so spacious and room for many people to sit in and have conversations.  The only downside of the house for me is the view of a golf course, not something I would want to view.

I like the yellow exterior and greenery of this home. I love the architectural details, especially the doors, windows, and built-ins.

I'm not crazy about lacquer walls or using similar colors in both furnishings and walls. I'd prefer a neutral wall color in an eggshell finish.

Love having a place for books in a home. We use our smallest bedroom as a reading room. It's not fancy, but we have 3 bookshelves and 2 very comfortable recliners in the room.

Like the home's elegantly pretty exterior, though it's a bit more formal than I'd personally choose. The library is a very nice looking room, if not precisely to my taste. I like it, but the rug and that woven stool both need to go. For me, a golf course as a neighbor would be a big no-go, thank you very much!

@stevieb   My parent's retirement home here in NM backed on the golf course and they often commented it made a great neighbor.  Never a broken window or trespasser, and it was super quiet.  We enjoyed sitting on the patio evenings watching the birds and wildlife on it.

Re: HOME LIBRARY FACING A GOLF COURSE

The exterior of the home is absolutely beautiful. The library is very pretty to look at but I just find the light blue an odd choice for that kind of room. I'm also not feeling the lacquer. I like the furnishings for the most part.

The living room could use some color on the walls or ceilings to balance it out. The eye is drawn to the floor level and stays there. The furnishings are nice except the two chairs by the fireplace are really odd, IMHO.

@Kachina624  Depending on the course, I suspect it might make for a good neighbor. That said, I've never been a big fan of long stretches of lawns or grass, so I'd prefer to sit next to a wooded area or copse of trees. I know some courses feature diverse landscaping but overall, I'd tend to choose a different venue.
