HISTORIC SOUTHAMPTON VICTORIAN

Built in 1879, shingled and turreted, has the feeling of a breezy, summer domain.

It was renovated by Quinn Pofahl, former Vice President of Design for Ralph Lauren Home.

Love the stained glass, the alabaster globe light, the tree-- but most of all, that ornate, original staircase.

Stunning, richly carved newell post!  I like Quinn Pofahl's decision to go with glossy, deep ebony finish floors--

He said he originally planned a very traditional design, but once started, he widened his approach.  With some Victorian houses, it's possible to get into too "stuffy" a rut, I believe, that isn't consistent with modern living--

Love the fireplace details, and mix of antique and new in the room...

Normally, I'm not necessarily for a preponderance of white;  however, given a goal of creating a summery retreat, I think the white here is fresh and lively.  He subtly puntuates it with purple and blue accents throughout--

The kitchen's brick hearth is original to the 1879 structure, and adds so much.

Oversize art, lovely crown molding, and beautiful chairs in the dining room...

Sunroom with thriving plants and traditional, vintage wicker,  more touches of purple in the art glass--

A peek into the cozy little blue turret room....

Complete with stained glass and the vaulted timbers above--

Love the spacious bathroom--

The bedroom has sitting area with bay windows ( in the turret, I think?)--

The outside areas seem so lush and private--

Love a wraparound porch furnished with classic wicker--

It's fun to see old houses brought forward for 21st century living.  An amusing aspect of its history is that it has hosted both Truman Capote, and Andy Warhol, in its past, among many other interesting guests over time, no doubt.

Loved most of the house. Did not care for the banister, not my taste.

Re: HISTORIC SOUTHAMPTON VICTORIAN

Stunning, absolutely stunning. I am partial to the brick courtyard and would loove spending my summer out there to read and enjoy the sound ot a fountain and birds singing. And though I love the beautiful tub it's a waste for me, it would never be used so I would remove it and have a walk-in shower . . . but I deny ever saying that! LOL!

Re: HISTORIC SOUTHAMPTON VICTORIAN

Even though a Victorian home is not for me and I would prefer more color throughout, it's still a beautiful home that has been tastefully done and is not overdone with "stuff" everywhere.

My favorite areas are the blue turret room and the pool and grounds area in the back.
