You could even post pics of your home and some great people would help you decorate it. Sad to see it go. I agree about some of the shows as well. I got so tired of seeing the Property Brothers remodeling their own home over the holidays. I don't like Love it or List it 2. I love Hillary and David though!
I'm sure they were. Sadly, the station has changed a lot. As noted, there are really no garden shows and there are really no good decorating shows to speak of either... It's all real estate, rehab, repurposing, DIY and flipping houses... Even when they do feature decorating, usually as part of a renovation, the 'look' is pretty much always similar and not often my taste...
I don't mind Hillary, and her work is usually good and her rooms are attractive, but the premise is always the same... She can't ever do what needs to be done because some big problem arises that eats up her budget... I don't much care for the Property Brothers... I've gotten so I don't even much like the magazine because, again, it's always the same overall formula...
Everyone has their thing, but when I think of home design and decor I don't personally want any part of repurposed 'junk', tons of flaking paint, steady doses of contemporary design, 'open concept', stainless steel, and so on... I'm afraid rehabbing, repurposing and DIY are not part of my game plan!

I wish they'd do another season of Sarah's House too... I loved her shows. She does a lot of renovation but doesn't short shrift the decorating aspects. I don't always love her decorating choices, but more times than not her rooms end up with appeal.
It seems HGTV in the US doesn't actually produce much of anything. Don't most of these shows come from the Canadian HGTV?

I also really enjoy Sarah Richardson's shows I think she is great! Apparently she has a current series on HGTV Canada, I am trying to figure out how to watch HGTV Canada.

I've watched her new show several times on my regular HGTV channel! It fits the typical mold of so many of the others--the customer selects from three homes, and Sarah remodels one room of their choice. As always she's wonderful, but we don't get enough Sarah design--not nearly as much as her former shows! She's my favorite for sure--I've found more useable design inspirations from Sarah's House than any other show on HGTV.

Darn, I love her whole house makeovers... Several of her former shows featured the just one room approach and while it's better than nothing (and still better than most of what HGTV offers these days) I really enjoyed seeing her take a house from start to finish. Even the rooms in which I had little interest (bath and laundry rooms, for example) were usually fun. Guess it doesn't matter since US HGTV seems wedded to nothing other than the current crop of shows they show and show and show...

I concur with the majority here....they should rename HGTV---REAL ESTATE SHOWCASE FEATURING CONTEMPORARY DESIGNS ONLY!!!!
HGTV is as repetitive as QVC with nothing but Love It or List or various versions of the Property Brothers......ENOUGH!!!
I miss the older shows ......Kitty Bartholowmew, Matt & Shari, Decorating Cents, Designing for (men & women--censors won't let me type the real word) with Michael Payne, Candice Olsen, Sarah Richardson.....
I think HGTV jumped the shark when they started going for the more far out designers (Antonio Project, Myles Of Styles, Color Splash etc) instead of how people decorate in the real world.....I think it caused a lot of people to tune out which HGTV interpreted incorrectly as viewers not wanting design shows...we just didn't want THEIR DESIGNERS!!!
