Got a Washer You Love?

Well, cross yer fingers, ladies.

The repairman comes tomorrow on my Whirlpool washer. Bought the set new in 2003, and this is the first problem (except for the washer tub rusting within a few uses).

The repairman said on the phone the problem I described "didn't sound good"....if I have to get a new one, what one would you recommend?

I've heard nothing but negative reviews on the HD front-loaders, from mildew-y odors that remain in the clothes/washer to pressed-in wrinkles that NEVER come out, to clothes just never getting clean.
