@GingerHead

I had a very similar bed for a while, but moved it into our small B&B when my kitties took a liking to the tall bed posts. The headboard is really large.

It was a Jessica McClintock design and natural wood. I do like the chalk finish, but I couldn't bring myself to do it on a large piece of furniture.

I LOVE everything about that gorgeous bed...the only thing I don't like is that it isn't mine!

We have an original Eastman full size bed with 2 dressers from the early 1900's.  Would love to do tnis.  I think my husband would keel over, seriously!  Old furniture is only worth something if someone wants to buy it.  Otherwise, it gets donated.

I totally agree. I know some people see it as sacrilegious to paint any and all wood work but I say if it's yours then you have the choice and the absolute right( haha) to do with it what you want.

It's a little bit of a project but really, I think it's doable for most people, for sure! I say go for it.

You know sometimes you see something so beautiful that it stops you in your tracks and speaks to your soul! haha

That's how I feel about this bed. It's my spirit animal bed. Woman Happy

I hear you!  If I still had it in my house I just might.

Many years back, when chalk paint was still a "new" thing, I took a class at a local antique shop.  We were given framed mirrors and had to paint the frames.  The owner was going to sell them in the shop, but we had first pick if we wanted to buy.

It was a delightful class...so fun and so creative with very little effort.

I've been tempted ever since then to paint something, but I would like to try something small first.

That bed is HUGE and fills the bedroom, so I'm scared of a less than happy outcome!

I hear you, yes, it would be a big undertaking just because it's so big and I would want to prime something so big and important with a stain blocking primer first (Kilz or Binz) just because it's probably finished with an oil based stain that could bleed up onto the surface if not primed first and at that point you could use any paint not just chalk paint.

One of the major reasons I like chalk paint is because it dosen't require a lot of prep and priming but if you're primimg anyway then it's not necessary to use unless of course you just like the finish.

I also don't like to always use wax to finish my chalk projects, I mostly use polycrylic even though I do love the look of wax. I do  also know myself and know that I may want to change the color or repaint at some point and it's hard to do that once the piece has been waxed.

So after priming you could paint with a regular satin paint, then whitewash and then antique with a glaze....anyway, I've gone off onto a tangent (this is one of my favorite topics)! haha

You definitely should try painting something small, it becomes addicting!

Me too, when I can't get something out of my head then I know it's meant to be mine. I give myself a good 24 hours to test myself and make sure before big purchases but that usually works for me.

I'm still loving my tree. I decided to decorate minimally with birds, pinecones and a few silver iccicle type looking ornaments. I didn't want to cover the natural looking beauty too much.
