Good Fences Make Good Neighbors

An excerpt from "Mending Wall" by Robert Frost-

...

Before I built a wall I'd ask to know
What I was walling in or walling out,
And to whom I was like to give offense.
Something there is that doesn't love a wall,
That wants it down.’ I could say ‘Elves’ to him,
But it's not elves exactly, and I'd rather
He said it for himself. I see him there
Bringing a stone grasped firmly by the top
In each hand, like an old-stone savage armed.
He moves in darkness as it seems to me,
Not of woods only and the shade of trees.
He will not go behind his father's saying,
And he likes having thought of it so well
He says again, ‘Good fences make good neighbors.’

Does this fence abide the rule?

How inventive, I really like it and it can be enjoyed from both sides.  So it gets my vote as a good neighbor.

Personally, I love it.........but I  am CERTAIN my neighbor would call the HOA, the Zoning Commission, City Hall,  the Governor.......etc. etc. etc.    (or possibly, just destroy it herself.)

I wouldn't  like it if I were the neighbor on the other side of the fence.  I don't absolutely hate it but certainly don't love it either.  I would hope the homeowner would ask his/her neighbor first.

I think this type of fence is better suited for a side of a fence that backs up to a wooded area or something similar.

I love that fence!

About 2 weeks ago I bought a copy of "Complete Poems of Robert Frost 1949."  When I randomly opened it, the first poem I read was "Mending Wall."

I love it.  I have always loved the bubble look in jewelry, and I gues it turns out I like it in fences too.

I guess if you are going to have a fence, this one is OK

I live in an older community, first houses built in 1930, then many more for the baby boom.    Very few people have a fence, myself included.   I've never seen an attractive fence.

Re: Good Fences Make Good Neighbors

it's hard to tell if this fence divides a property or is simply the front part of a single property and that is the entrance gate?

Also this could be a country house with no close neighbors around it.

I really like it.  The house in the background appears to be an older one. If it's in town there are usually some guidelines on fences.

I think it's tacky.
