I LOVE THEM, but I'm kind of curious as to whether they can be a good look in a relatively contemporary home.

What's your take?

I don't see why not. So much contemporary home decor design uses glass, and I think they would be great.

To me they are timeless (even though I relate seeing them mostly in fine old homes) and classic, which in my mind, never goes out of style, and mixes well with anything.

I like them too, but have always seen them in older homes.  Not sure they'd work in a modern style / decor.  I think I'd choose a more modern handle rather than a knob.

Re: Glass Interior Doorknobs

I think that they would work in a more contemporary home with lots of light colors - white, cream, beige or light shades of color in whatever your preferred shades are.

Even small glass knobs in the bath look nice with the lighter shades of shower curtains and towels.

But, I also think, in the end, you should use what you like best and it will all blend together nicely and you will probably be the happiest with it. Look at magazines - they mix just about anything - things I would never even think of doing - and, most (not all) of the time - it works.

Re: Glass Interior Doorknobs

We have an old house and glass doorknobs everywhere but the front door. Love them! My favorite ones are the ones that were on the outside of the house a long time and have turned a beautiful light purple color because of exposure. I remember in the Little LuLu comics that she used a glass doorknob as a crystal ball. Guess that's when I became a big fan of them!

I think they would be beautiful in a modern style house. If the cut glass look worries you (it ought not), there are smooth glass door and cabinet knobs which are very modern.

i love the glass knobs, wish I could use them, but they would not work in my rustic style house.

I had no idea the sunlight turned them purple!  A few of our beach houses have the clear and one front door (east facing) is a beautiful lilac hue.

I planted two lilacs on either side of the porch to compliment the knob.

It's so pretty a friend who is a photographer used a picture of ours for artwork and stationary.

I remember about 30 years ago, someone told me that each knob was worth about 50 dollars.  I ran around and counted how many I had.  I thought I should be a millionaire!
