Re: Getting smell out of clothes

Arm & Hammer baking soda or washing soda, that is what I wash my dog's towels and quilts in, makes things smell so fresh, he even notices when I change things, he has to smell it, LOL!

Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda 55 oz.

Re: Getting smell out of clothes

I have received plenty of stinky clothing gifts from my chain smoking mil. I've never had to take extraordinary steps to rid the clothing of the smell. I just laundered the items separately.

Thanks everybody for taking the time to reply.

I put 2 cups of vinegar in the wash water with the detergent and the smells appear to be gone. They aren't completely dry yet but they seem fine.

Re: Getting smell out of clothes

I use 20 Mule Team Borax. Target has it. Fill your machine to the top, add one cup of the borax and let the stuff mix up in the water then add your detergent and then your clothes. Let them soak for about 20-30 minutes and then run the wash cycle. It has gotten cigarette smell and even the smell of cat urine out. HTH
