Just the other day I reached for one of my all time favorites, powdered Spic & Span.  The powdered version is hard to find and a few years ago I stockpiled numerous boxes that I found at ACE hardware.

It just seems to be so good at melting down heavy dirt or greasy things, like decorative items in your kitchen that you only clean a couple of times a year, but get that filmy buildup.

I hope posters don't start telling me that this product is toxic or that small children are employed in factories to produce it, that kind of thing.  I really love this old-fashioned cleaning product.

To be honest, I didn't know that they even still made Spic & Span.

I thought that it ceased to exist because of the first part of the product name, and people finding that offensive.

I looked on Amazon, and was pleasently surprised to see that it is still being sold.

Good to know!

the where to buy on the website tells me it's available around here,

I used to use Cinch which was amazing and can't find that anymore either, but still being made,

Re: GOING OLD SCHOOL - CLEANING PRODUCTS

My mom was a clean nut and she always used the Spic N Span in the box.

I used the spray and I'm very happy with it.

One time when staying at the casino, I went back to my room during the day & housekeeping had left their cleaning products in my bathroom.   There sat a bottle of Spic & Span spray, exactly like I use.   I checked it out to see if it was a commercial formula but no, it's the exact product I use.

The selling point to the cleaner was no rinsing.    The spray is the same, once it's clean, you are done.

I try very hard to use the eco-friendly stuff, but yesterday I bought three cans of the 2XClorox Comet.  Sometimes you just need a little extra power.

Re: GOING OLD SCHOOL - CLEANING PRODUCTS

Thanks for the reminders on Spic & Span.....my mother used it, but I've totally forgotten about it. I didn't know that it is available in a spray, so I'm going to look for that. For me, I can't get along without Soft Scrub for the kitchen sinks and Mr Clean magic erasers (even though that's not old school). I'm wondering how Soft Scrub would work on the shower tracks....hmmm.

I use the old fashioned brown soap. I use it to pre clean spots, stains or dirt on the laundry items. First I wet the stain and then I rub it with brown soap and throw it in the washing machine. It has been very effective. I also use Soilove which I buy at the dollar store. Same routine, wet and rub.

I use Method all-purpose cleaner in the kitchen.  It's "non-toxic" but it really works great.  Been using it for years.
