GETTING THAT FLUFFY, CHUNKY BED LINENS LOOK (IF YOU LIKE IT)

I absolutely love a plump, inviting bed linens look, like this one that blogger Brooke Christen did.  Not flat and "hard".

This is separate from the burning issue of how many pillows on a bed-- that seems to stir such passions among both "pro" and "con" factions, ha.

But no, I'm talking about the bed part itself.

Blogger Brooke Christen also did this luxe duvet and quilt look above, which is her own bed.  She staged luxe beds all the time in her retail career, and has great ideas-- she's one of two people I've heard suggest "overstuffing" a queen duvet.

In other words, use a king size insert in a queen duvet cover, or stuff the cover with 2 queen inserts!  Then she folds them cunningly.  But you really have to see her video.  Her tips on getting a soft, luxurious bed look in her "how to get a fluffy bed" video are really good, see below:

And blogger Brandy Jackson has a very good new video on getting a luxe look and feel-- plus, in the "more" section below her video, she gives you actual substitutes for the pricier bed linens, that will produce a nearly identical look.

She had a key suggestion too:  that if you have a queen size bed, size up with your sleeping pillows --  get king size bed pillows, instead of "standard" size, which really do look a bit skimpy on a queen bed.

Brandy's also an advocate of 2 inserts in one duvet cover, to ensure that plump, luxurious feel!  Her creamy, monochromatic bed is a dream.  Her video below:

@Oznell  Those beds do look very inviting and comfortable, just like you picture a luxury hotel or bed and breakfast.  I never thought about checking out videos on how to do this, but I just may start.

Love the look.

But we are *minimalists*.

Summer....it's just us and the sheets.

Winter....it's just us, the sheets and very thin blanket.

Wow, for once I am in fashion if only with my bed. I love down, comforters, pillows, and throws. I use King size comforters on my queen size bed. I have cut down on pillows because I got so tired with the on and off everyday. Not much beats turning the heat way down and snuggling with a down throw on my comfortable couch reading or watching TV.

We have the white bed from Pottery Barn and have absolutely LOVED it this summer!  It was a real treat for stay-at-homeness.

@Oznell  The throw in the last picture is beautiful!

I, too, like a nice fluffy bed and fluffy bed pillows. For me, finding good, fluffy bed pillows are the hardest things to shop for. You can't try them out, and just have to rely on luck in finding ones that suit you. So far, I am having zero luck in finding the right one. I know the "My Pillow" is not what I want, so that's not an option. Every time I think that I've found "the one," I read the reviews and they're about 50/50 as to performance, e.g., flattening out (usually, the #1 complaint,) falls apart after laundering, etc. We really do need some good pillows.

@Mimi 1883  I am constantly  searching for a comfortable pillow . ' My Pillow ' does not work for me. My husband likes his and I love that it launders nicely . The last comfortable one I purchased was years ago , it was a perforated 'foam rubber' and I used it until it died. I found one that looked like it but it was not pliable.

I see those big chunky knit throws every where lately and love the look (3rd picture) . I wonder if they launder well ? Also if they work with cats.

I think you have to talk about the pillows with these beds as they add to the fluffiness of them.  For me three pillows on each side is one pillow too many on each side.  I have one for my head and one to place between my knees as I am a side sleeper.  I do have a comforter and use an extra throw in the winter so my bed is on the fluffy side.
