Have been looking at samples and samples of colors for my front door. Any suggestions as to what color to paint?
My house is a basic California one story...stucco cream colored.
Would love some suggesitons.

Sounds like my house is similar to yours. I would consider red, blue or green. You want it to make a statement. If the interior of your home has one of those colors that is prominent, then use that color for the door.

Since I don't know you, your house or you aesthetic; there's no way that I could suggest something. I will say that my house is a small colonial that is white with black trim and the door is beautiful lavender. My neighbors hate it....lol They can't stand my lavender door. I'm not a gardener but I love flowers. There are lilac bushes at on both sides of my house and this year, I have a variety of white and purple flowers in pots on my front porch. Prior to last year, when I had the door painted lavender, It was always red.

I put a new fancy front door on last year and did some research on this. The other story is what to paint the door inside. decisions, decisions... ![]()

Tiffany blue or Clinique green. With a cream house, you have a lot of options. We used to have a red door. My buddy has a colonial blue door
I would google "door colors for cream house" and hit images. Easier when you can see it

Terra-cotta? Sage green?
Something earthy inspired would be my route with stucco...
but, no rules for front doors as far as I know... just pick one to complement the house's style and a color that says to everyone passing by... "look at the door!".
Happy Painting!!

NAT: What color is your exterior? Is it brick, wood or other? Does it have shutters? Do you have a well-manicured yard with pretty grass or do you have a natural landscape? What period is your house or is it today's contemporary?
Is your door wood? Does it have glass panes? Does it have any brass, door knocker, etc?
Try to have no more than 3 colors on your exterior unless you have a Victorian with a lot of gingerbread. Front doors can be any color but need to blend with your landscape, your paint colors and home. Red, any color in the red family/yellow family says "welcome." Greens and blues say "I keep a very clean house, remove your shoes before entering." Well, not really but that is sort of the way some decorators view it. Blacks and grays are used a lot in Georgian, Colonial, Queen Anne homes. But, it's your house and you have to be the one who smiles when you drive up and see it. If it does not make your heart sing, your feet won't dance when you exit your car. So make it "you."
