The green color is hideous! What I like is the brightness that's it.

What's with the big, colorless map on the wall?  Don't care for this room at all.

I think it's more the light reflection from the windows, @Kachina624

Here's another angle.

A view from the porch through French doors reveals the living room, foyer and dining room beyond.

Re: Fresh Looking Living Room...

Too blah for my taste.   My upholstered furniture is black for a really good reason!  Smiley Wink

And, what's with this word "Fresh" to describe this room?  I keep hearing in reference to GILI merchandise,  etc.

I looked up online and the Urban Dictionary defines it:

"to mean it is acceptable and highly approved by someone. Orgin: Hiphop Mid 80's Ny

Fresh is derived as in the sense of seeing something brand new and is attracting people like cars in commercials. but is used to refer to anything highly approved by someone"

Who has highly approved of this room?

There is blue in the rug.  The glass pieces in the bookcase are blue and green, tying the colors together.  Very subconsciously outdoorsy yet formal.  The map is Italy and Sicily, perhaps a family connection?  The only thing I don't like is the dining table chair sitting all by itself.

@ALRATIBA - This sense of "fresh" is neither of the definitions you shared—it is fresh because it is light, airy, clean, simple, and refreshing, like a nice spring breeze.

ETA: A standard dictionary site such as Merriam-Webster or even dictionary.com would serve you better; Urban Dictionary is more for slang than standard English.

I like the green.  And I like the space even though it's a little boring.

Bookcases need wonderful books in them IMO. It's a light and airy room. Perhaps a light coral or celery green or shades of blue would be more attractive to my eye.
